thefuturefuture would like to invite you to SPRING/BREAK Art Show where we are featuring a site-specific installation alongside a great curator driven show. Our piece, (De)composition of metric space, inhabits the oft forgotten zone between two floors. The cellular structure forms above the stair landing and grows along the underside of the steps overhead. The piece consists of more than 200 unique 3d printed joints spanned by over 300 custom pipes, forming a soap bubble-like structure. Each joint’s faceted shape orients its faces by the angle and number of pipes meeting at its intersection. The piece was prefabricated in our studio using a Makerbot 3d printer and constructed on-site.
The show inhabits 4 floors of one of the city’s oldest schoolhouses and is packed with young, creative, emerging art. Running alongside the Armory Arts Week, SPRING/BREAK will offer a “break” from the traditional art fair model showing a range of work from many of the city’s curatorial voices. Thanks to Andrew Gori and Ambre Kelly (The They Co.) for curating us and for all of their amazing work with organizing the show.
If you are in the area, check it out while there is still time! Today noon-9pm, Sunday noon-6pm
